The Centre
Simply Outdoors was started in 2017 when Mount Kelly decided to stop running the then Adventure Centre which had been running since 1992. Sean and Ann Rider, who had worked at The Adventure Centre for over 10 years decided to take on the challenge of running their own centre and took over the business in September 2017.
Here at Simply Outdoors we have a love of the outdoors and especially sharing it with others. We are dedicated to trying to get people to experience the outdoors, learning not only new skills such as climbing and kayaking but learning about themselves and others too.
Outdoor activities are inherently fun and this can be the primary reason many people participate, however it can be a great way of learning about your strengths/ areas to work on and it’s this secret learning that Sean and Ann enjoying getting their participants to experience. Whether it’s braving your first overnight trip away from home or realising a trait a work colleague of over a decade has, we believe we can help everyone to learn.
Location
Simply Outdoors is situated on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park on the beautiful Mount Kelly estate. The River Tavy runs opposite the Centre and we are very close to numerous other moorlands, crags and rivers which highlight this area as one of the UK’s top spots for outdoor activities.
Facilities
Simply Outdoors has excellent facilities which allow us to run programmes on or offsite. Our high ropes course, the astro turf and Mount Kelly Swimming Pool, not to mention the grounds around the Centre, are all used during our school programmes for various games and activities. We also have different accommodation options depending on the size of the group, enabling teachers to share buildings with students or sleep separately.
